The RUN Hair Salon Website Project

tl;dr see the website here.

Introduction

When Lydia Brackett launched RUN, her vision was clear: create an Aveda salon that blends education, artistry, inclusion, and sustainability – values that shape both her as a master stylist and her community overall. Located in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood, RUN was built to be approachable and artful, modern yet grounded. Lydia knew that her salon’s website needed to be the same.

The Goal

Lydia wanted a website that reflected her commitment to intentional beauty, a place where guests could see her artistry and book confidently, without feeling overwhelmed by design or language.

The Process

I’ll admit – in the early stages, I overdesigned. I added animations, layered graphics, and all the “bells and whistles to impress Lydia. (She’s a hair stylist at New York Fashion Week every year, people!) Also, this website was built with Squarespace. Designing in Squarespace is FUN. But, as her salon’s website took shape, it became clear that simple was best. We stripped back the extras to let the RUN’s ethos and imagery speak for themselves. The final design mirrors the RUN experience: minimalist, clean, and quietly confident.

The Results

Within the first two months of launching, the site gained traction quickly:

  • 2.6k+ impressions
  • 6th position on Google search
  • 14% click-through rate (CTR)

RUN’s website not only reflects Lydia’s artistry but also positions her brand as a trusted, inclusive salon rooted in community and sustainability, and also proof that simplicity, done well, speaks volumes.
